It is part of the Fallout Arts Collective. For those of you familiar with south Minneapolis, it used to be the old Jimmy Jingle building, right on the corner of 26th and 2nd, just up the street from the Black Forest and Little Tijuana. We are across the street from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, and a couple of blocks from the Minneapolis Institute of Art and the Minneapolis Children's Theater.
There is a large mural on the 26th St. side of the building. The building is filled with artists, musicians and arts-based therapists.
Directions
26th St. is one-way headed west, so unless you're coming from midtown Minneapolis, you'll need to go along 27th to get here.
From the south: take 35w to the Lake St. - 31st St. exit. Turn left onto 31st (at the bottom of the ramp). Go 2 blocks to 1st Ave, turn right. Go 4 blocks to 27th St., turn right. Go 2 blocks to 2nd Ave. S., turn left, go 1 block.
From the north or St. Paul: take 94 east to Lyndale Ave. Go up Lyndale to 28th St., turn left. Go past Nicollet to 1st Ave. S., turn left. Go 1 block to 27th Ave., turn right. Go 2 blocks to 2nd Ave. S., turn left, go 1 block.
Or there's a quicker route, albeit through a rough neighborhood. Take 94 east to 11th St. Follow signs to Grant St, turn right, then turn right again on Portland. Follow Portland to 26th St., turn right. Go across freeway, then 3 blocks to 2nd Ave. S. The Fallout building is the one on the corner with the mural. Turn left and park.
From midtown Minneapolis: go up 26th St., just across the 35w freeway. 2 blocks past the freeway is 2nd Ave. S. Turn left and park.
From the west: go up 28th St, just past Nicollet Ave. Go past Nicollet to 1st Ave. S., turn left. Go 1 block to 27th Ave., turn right. Go 2 blocks to 2nd Ave. S., turn left, go 1 block.
From the northern and western suburbs: take 394 to Dunwoody exit. Turn right onto Hennepin, merge left onto Lyndale. Turn left on 28th St. Go 1 block past Nicollet to 1st Ave. S, turn left. Go 1 block to 27th St., turn right. Go 2 blocks to 2nd Ave. S, turn left, go 1 block.
